MARINE CARGO INSURANCE
The majority of shipments arrives to destinations free of damage and loss.
However, shipper should be aware that ocean carriers in general are liable up to $500 per customary freight unit (i.e. box, skid, pallet etc). Also ocean carrier’s liability may be limited to $1500 per entire shipment.
If you would like to get an extra protection for your valuable shipment then we can obtain CNA Insurance Certificate issued to consignee’s (recipient’s) name. Note: If you need us to get an insurance certificate to a consigner’s (shipper’s) name, then it must be specified separately in email.
In case of claim, claims for insurance will be processed by CNA’s Claim Settling Agent located in the country of destination. Complete contact info of CNA's Claim Settling Agent is available in the Insurance Certificate. If shipment is not insured then all claims are to be directed to the steamship line used on the shipment.
Typically, depends on commodity, insurance rates vary:
- Commercial shipments proof packed: $2 per $100 (2%) @ insured value declared
- Boxed or crated personal effects: $3 per $100 (3%) @ insured value declared
- Motor vehicles: $1.5-1.1 per $100 (1.5-1.1%) @ insured value declared
$50 minimum per insurance certificate. Deductible, as a rule, varies from $300 to $500.
IMPORTANT: In order to obtain an insurance certificate on your shipment, a Commercial Invoice (for commercial shipments) or Valued Packing list (for personal shipments) must be submitted in advance.

If you request to insure your shipment at a time of booking, then the insurance premium will be added to our final invoice on your shipment and CNA insurance certificate will be attached in PDF file to the final invoice.
Otherwise you may purchase insurance on your shipment through any insurance agency of your choice. |
